The latest news coming from the National Unity Platform (NUP) camp indicates that former Makerere University guild president, Roy Ssemboga has been denied the party’s flag to represent it in the forthcoming general elections.
Ssemboga had intentions to contest as Member of Parliament for Kawempe South but the party has today decided to give the flag to former NBS TV presenter Kazibwe Bashir.
The Executive Board of the National Unity Platform has today passed the results of 15 constituencies in the Central Region which were subjected to re-evaluation.
It remains unclear whether Ssemboga will petition the Executive Board of NUP or he will decide to campaign for Kazibwe.
Ssemboga has been a close associate to the NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine and he was on many occasions arrested in connection to his loyalty to the People Power Movement, a pressure group also led by Bobi Wine.
Kazibwe’s intentions to challenge Ssemboga sparked off bitter conversations online as Makerere students asked him to look for another position, citing Ssemboga’s loyalty to the struggle.
Kazibwe however refused to give up his dream and he has successfully scooped the flag to represent the party in the 2021 general elections.
