According to the letter, all College Principals are expected to submit curricula for the re-structed programmes for consideration by Senate.
Among the scrapped courses include; Bachelor of Library and Information Sciences, Bachelor of Archives and Records Management, Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Bachelor of Community Psychology, among others.
Other scrapped courses include; Bachelor of Industrial and Organisational Psychology, Bachelor of Arts in Development Economics, Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, among others.
The move positions Makerere University as a research-based institution as earlier announced by the university Vice Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe.
President Museveni was also quoted advising Makerere to leave the “small courses” to other universities during one of the university’s graduation ceremonies. According to Museveni, Makerere should concentrate on research in a bid to elevate Uganda’s education system.
