Makerere university students will finally have a reason to be happy after Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda named a 14 member committee of individuals to review the controversial Makerere University 60 per cent tuition policy.
This latest development comes after a series of strikes held by students that saw them protest against the terms of the policy and demanding the administration to totally scrap it off.
The decision to appoint the committee comes after the recent strike that took more than two days with students protesting about the tuition policy. The week-long strike attracted the attention of the government, represented by the prime minister who ordered the university to suspend the policy pending review.
