Society has it that getting to know your life partner better takes a year or more before you can finally settle in, the case is not, for a student at Kyambogo University who defied the odds.
Undertaking a course, then, in Civil Engineering at the Banda- based institution, a one David Masereka wowed couple hopefuls about how he kept his faith in pursuing a lady he fell in love with, for just only five (5) months.
As if that were not enough, the two love birds only met twice within their dating time before they finally tied the knot. The whole time, communication was entirely over the phone.
Living far apart, Mr. Masereka met his now wife, Ms Prossy Biira, through a friend. Owing to their separate localities – they couldn’t help but have only two physical encounters. The gentleman stayed in Mityana (where he worked) while his flower lived in Kasese Dsitrict.
“I do not know how we became friends. In love, sometimes it is hard to explain some things. A friend introduced Prossy to me and I was smitten. My heart ‘changed’ and it was like God had given me what I was praying for. She was the friend that I needed and whatever she talked about was what I had been craving to hear. If there was anything bad about her, I knew we would sort that out later but I was sure I loved her,” Mr Masereka shared his story with a local publication.
According to the story, the two faced a back drop of COVID-19 pandemic at a time just when they declared their wedding. They then pushed it to a later time when they would be able to host more guests, as had been constrained by pandemic guidelines.
