King Ceasor University students have pointed fingers at administrators for improper electoral procedures at the Ggaba road-based institution.
Reliable sources have whispered to this website about a scenario at the university where the incumbent Guild President has held onto his seat for now more than two years, a stunt that is unconstitutional but favoured by the in-charge.
More so, it is reported that King Ceasor University administration meddels in students political affairs by indirectly imposing a leader against the latter’s wish.
“We have had a guild president who has ruled for over two years contrary to our constitution. Now that the elections are to be organised, they have denied all other aspirants opportunities to stand against the one being backed up by the outgoing guild president,” one student cried out.
As the university goes into another electoral process, there are fears that the administration plans to front a single candidate that will go through unopposed by disqualifying close competitors.
On further engagements with the students, one of the disqualified contestants had this to note;
I Shamsuddeen, since the day I made my interest to stand for Guild presidency, a number of false accusations have been made aiming to get me disqualified, (I hold evidence to that) from my behaviour, academic performance, reporting university to regulatory authorities and so on.
Over the time, I managed to prove myself innocent from all those and therefore able to be given greenlight to contest, and decided not to address the issue in public.
Very clearly our constitution mentioned that a candidate with 2 or less semesters can’t contest, and this is my first week in 4.2 which means I have 3 semesters to finish (which qualifies me to stand).
However, a number of points have been raised claiming the fact that the semesters have been shortened and I may finish the 3 semesters in this very year, I will not qualify to run for guild presidency.
This is therefore to inform the general public that I have been disqualified and I am not standing again and we don’t want any reaction like a number of students have been suggesting. We pray for betterment of KCU, our sole purpose in the institution is academic and personal capacity building, so politics is not prioritized.
