Kyambogo University’s Paidha branch campus in Zombo district is expanding its academic offerings, introducing three new undergraduate degree programmes targeting self-sponsored A-Level entrants for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The new programmes — Bachelor of Education Primary, Bachelor of Vocational Agriculture with Education, and Bachelor of Business Administration — will be offered under the normal weekday study arrangement, with intake scheduled for August 2026. Registration is already ongoing, both at the Paidha campus and online.
Dr. Joseph Rwothomio, acting head of department in education and focal point person for Kyambogo University’s Paidha branch, confirmed the expansion and urged interested students to apply without delay.
The Paidha branch campus was opened in 2024 — just two years ago — initially with a narrow focus on in-service teachers through diploma and bachelor’s courses in primary education. The addition of three new programmes, including a Business Administration degree, signals that the campus is maturing quickly and broadening its mandate beyond its original teacher-training remit.
For Zombo district and the wider West Nile region, this is significant. The distance between northern Uganda and Kampala is not just geographical — it is financial, logistical, and in many cases, the reason students from that region never access university education at all. A Kyambogo campus operating in Paidha removes at least part of that barrier.
Bachelor of Education Primary — targeting those who want to teach at primary school level with a full university degree rather than a diploma qualification. For the large number of serving teachers in the region who have been upgrading qualifications, this pathway is directly relevant.
Bachelor of Vocational Agriculture with Education — combining agricultural science with education training, making it particularly well suited for a region where agriculture is the dominant livelihood and where trained agricultural educators are in short supply.
Bachelor of Business Administration — the most versatile of the three, opening pathways into entrepreneurship, public service, and the private sector for students in a part of Uganda that has historically had limited access to business education at degree level.
Registration is open now — at the Paidha campus directly or online. The programmes are for self-sponsored A-Level entrants only. Teaching begins August 2026.
For a student in West Nile weighing whether to pursue higher education, the answer just got a little easier.
