Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe has announced the death of renown researcher Prof. Noble Banadda who lost his battle with COVID-19. According to Nawangwe’s statement, the Makerere University fraternity is going through a tough time to accept the researcher’s demise.
“A very sad day for @Makerere following the loss of one of our most prolific researchers to COVID 19. Rest In Peace, Prof. Noble Banadda”. Prof Nawangwe tweeted on Thursday night.
Banadda joins several university officials from across the country who have succumbed to the deadly COVID-19 in a period of less than one month.
Prof Banadda is the first African to scoop a distinguished Pius XI Gold Medal. Banadda was awarded the Pius XI Gold Medal for the year 2018. The award, given by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences based at the Vatican, is in recognition of his outstanding scientific research.
A church service to honor the life of Prof. Noble Banadda will be held today, Friday 2nd July, 2:00pm from the School of Food Technology, Nutrition & Bio-Engineering. As a measure to observe COVID-19 SOPs, few invitations will be sent. The service will be streamed live on the university’s social media platforms.
