The Ministry of Education has come out to deny ongoing speculations indicating the reopening schools in two weeks’ time following a meeting held yesterday (Aug 30) between technocrats.
The update on the matter was revealed by Director of Education Standards at the Ministry –Dr Kedrace Turyagenda, who wondered where the earlier media reports were obtained.
“The Ministry of Education has not decided that schools will reopen in two weeks. I haven’t read the paper where that information is and I don’t know where they got it from” Dr Turyagenda said.
The information regarding schools reopening in a period of two weeks appeared first in national newspaper, Daily Monitor earlier today.
In the same meeting held yesterday, Campus Bee can affirm that it was proposed that Universities and other tertiary Institutions would re-open around September-October in a staggered approach starting with students in their final year
Whereas some sources at the education ministry have indicated that the schools might be reopened on September 21, top officials have remained tight- lipped on the tentative dates for the reopening.
However, the officials affirm that the reopening process lies majorly at the pace upon which teachers/lecturers across the country receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
