In his communication to the institution’s academic staff, Makerere University Business School – MUBS Principal Prof Wasswa Balunywa announced that the forthcoming end of semester exams have been cancelled until further notice.
Balunywa further revealed that they have received numerous cases of COVID-19 infections amongst students and staff forcing them to cancel the exams in a bid to safeguard the health of students and staff.
“We have continued to receive information regarding numerous cases of corona virus infections amongst students and staff. This is therefore to inform you that the forthcoming examinations are cancelled until further notice”. Balunywa’s email reads.
It is worthy recalling that the MUBS Principal came out this week to notify the general public that they are assessing the situation after several students started falling sick in their hostels. Balunywa later advised the MUBS staff to stay home unless they have to be at campus.
In other news, MUBS’ sister university Makerere is also gearing up for end of semester exams slated for Monday. The administration is reportedly waiting for President Museveni’s guidance on whether to cancel the exams as well.
According to statistics released by the Ministry of Health, there are 1,083 new COVID-19 cases and the cumulative confirmed cases are now 49,759.
