NTV Presenter/Producer Raymond Mujuni has come out to reveal that he tested positive for COVID-19 three weeks ago but he managed to beat it with his fiancée Rita Kanya. Mujuni took to his twitter to create an entire thread that explains how they managed to beat COVID-19, a virus that has claimed many lives.
“Three weeks ago I tested positive for #COVID19 . My sample which had been taken by @RocketHealthUG came back positive. Because I’d been working mostly from home I had less contacts [4] and I quickly informed each of them.” Mujuni said in a tweet.
“We immediately went into isolation. We had been due for a family wedding that day, we cancelled it. In the first few hours we dealt with a lot of anxiety. What happens next? Would we end up in HDU or even ICU?” Mujuni wonders.
The NTV scribe further narrated that his support system was friends and family who helped him to curb anxiety. Mujuni and his family members then set up a working daily routine. They would wake up, pray, excercise, take medicine, sit in the sun, and then watch documentaries or series all day.
Mujuni further narrated that time came when cough and flu became tougher, so did their zeal to beat the virus. Mujuni explains that they took syrups and Dawa tea to curb the cough.
“The days however got tougher: the fevers started to get intense, the cough and flu grew stronger too. For cough we used syrups and strong dawa tea. And also ate regular meals.” Mujuni tweeted.
He added that they were horrified by the zoom burials and more stories of Ugandans succumbing to OCVID-19 that were circulating all over social media. Mujuni later decided to go off social media for some time, which he believes helped him a lot.
“In those days, our spirits we also shattered when some of our friends passed on. Zoom burials would drain us mentally and the toll was visible.” He added.
“In those days, we avoided social media as much as we could. There was a lot of doom and gloom and it would serve to trigger our fears.” Another tweed from Mujuni reads.
However, the NTV news anchor says he was motivated by stories from Ugandans who had recovered from the virus. According to Mujuni, the virus also eats your finances due to the money spent on medication and several testing.
