Stanbic Bank Uganda has donated IT Equipment worth Shs 100M to Makerere University in a bid to recover its main administrative centre following the recent fire that raged the university main building.

In a handover ceremony that was held at the institution, Stanbic Bank donated IT equipment, comprising the computers worth Shs 100 million and all this was received by the University Vice Chancellor, Prof Barnabas Nawangwe.

Anne Juuko, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Stanbic Bank said that this donation is key for Stanbic Bank because education is the key pillar of the bank’s Corporate Social Investments and she believes that quality education is critical to achieving social economic growth.

Stanbic Bank further stated that they are honoured to respond to the recent appeal by the Vice Chancellor to work together and rebuild the iconic Ivory Tower which was established in 1922.

“I thank Anne Juuko the CEO of Stanbic Bank and her team for facilitating our business continuity through the very generous donation of 32 desktops and 12 laptops. Your support is indeed invaluable.” Nawangwe added on while addressing the media.

The Vice Chancellor further stated that this should not only end with Stanbic Bank but be an example for everyone that can take part in the rebuilding of the tower.
