Prof Aaron Mushengyezi , the incoming Vice-Chancellor of Uganda Christian University was today afternoon surprised by the university’s functional washrooms in Halls of Residence. Mushengyezi further wondered whether the Mukono-based students live in Uganda.
“I was surprised that you can go to students halls of residence and you find functional washrooms! Do you guys live in Uganda?” Mushengyezi asked after touring around the university’s main campus in Mukono.
It is not clear whether Mushengyezi was throwing shade at Makerere University toilets in halls as it should be recalled that he has been at Makerere for many years. Mushengyezi, who is warming up to take over from Rev. Dr. Joel Senyonyi also doubles as the Dean of the Department of Languages, Literature and Communications at Makerere.
Dr. Mushengyezi was appointed by the House of Bishops of Church of Uganda on February 1st 2020 and he awaits taking over from Senyonyi whose term expires on August 31st 2020.
Once installed as the UCU Vice-Chancellor, Mushengyezi will take over roles like upholding the Christian identity of the university, plan, govern, develop as well as chair the University Council.
