Heritier Mufano, the former Makerere University guild minister incharge of International Students has faulted sister institutions like Kyambogo and UCU for donating to the COVID-19 taskforce and ignoring starving students at their institutions.
Mufano, a former President of the International Students Union, says he has received shocking revelations of a colleague at Kyambogo University, who is feasting on toothpaste.
“Kyambogo University donated food to the task force and ignored international students suffering in Banda hostels. This is very absurd.” He told Campus Bee.
His comments come days after the Makerere University administration distributed some Shs 63,000 to every international student stuck within the univerity premises as upkeep for two weeks.
“Kyambogo has very few international students with a more manageable number, I would be tempted to think that even the these few are rgretting why they didn’t travel home, but how could they?” Mufano questioned.
He said most of these other universities that have ignored their international students all charge double the tuition to admit them in the first place and now that the students need them most, they have given them a deaf ear.
