On Monday during the Parliamentary session, Hon. Nandala Mafabi presented a petition from Makerere University Bachelor of Ethics & Human Rights students over proposal by the university to scrap the course off.
The Petition which has over 500 signatures argues that the tuition paid by students for the course has proven that retaining the course at the University is economically viable. Hon. Nandala Mafabi also stated that there are 950 students in their 3rd Year pursuing Bachelor of Ethics & Human Rights course at Makerere.
Deputy speaker Oulanya referred the Makerere students petition to the Minister of Education for consideration and to take action so as to report to the plenary. Prayer 3 of the petition moves to institute an investigation into the manner in which Makerere University decides to scrap off courses.
