Campus Bee has exclusively learned that Female lectures of Makerere University are bitter following their association’s continued silence on sexual harassment. The developments have come following the recent Makerere University Academic Staff Association (MUASA) elections that were dominated by men.
Men dominated both the leadership positions and voters population, according to statistics recorded during the recent polls.
According to statistics, only 725 voters turned up for the association’s recent elections yet it is comprised of 1500 members. Only 17 proxy votes were registered, which confirms that majority of MUASA members deliberately refused to participate in choosing leaders that will work for the next two years.
Unlike the previous leadership, this time MUASA added a female to the association’s top leadership. Dr. Christine Mbabazi, who won the vice general secretary seat was reportedly begged to contest and she definitely won the race.
Some of the elected MUASA leaders include; Dr Deus Kamunyu Muhwezi (chairperson), Dr. Edward Nectar Mwavu ( vice chairperson), Dr. Christine Mbabazi (vice general secretary), Chris Charles Kitale (association treasurer) among others.
Our snoops have further established that female lecturers at the Ivory Tower believe male lecturers who sexually harassed students ruined the association’s image. Some of the lecturers that were suspended for sexually harassing students include; Vincent Ssajjabi, an assistant lecturer in the School of Economics, Medard Twinobuhungiro, an assistant lecturer in the School of Business, Jackson Sekiryango from School of Languages, Literature and Communication among many others.
