Makerere University Business School (MUBS) hosted over 30 applicants from 15 different companies on a two-day bootcamp.
The applicants gathered at MUBS main campus for a training as part of the process to select the best projects to be supported by Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) in the 2023 E-booster campaign.
The two-day bootcamp that started on October 5th and ended on October 6th with final pitch presentations at the MUBS entrepreneurship and innovation center.
The bootcamp was aimed at supporting applicants refine their projects to better serve the unserved and undeserved communities and sectors in Uganda. The bootcamp focused on capacity-building, pitch presentation and mentorship.
Applicants for UCC’s E-booster participated in a business model canvas workshop, financial planning workshop, marketing and sales strategy training, value preposition, community engagement and impact assessment among others.
The bootcamp attracted atleast fifteen applicants who were subjected to a panel of seven judges that cut the number to ten. The last ten groups will be guided and supported to polish their products ahead of the final awarding ceremony.
E-booster Competition
The competition is aligned with the vision of “Leaving No One Behind in the Digital Era”, and aims to foster the adoption of technology by Ugandan Companies and underserved communities in Uganda. It seeks to address the challenges faced by these stakeholders, including limited access to funding and technical expertise. Specifically, there are no target areas.
The project is supported by Uganda Communications Universal Services Access Fund (UCUSAF) and implemented by UCC. This year, MUBS was selected to co-partner with UCC through the MUBS entrepreneurship club.
