KCB sponsored Nkumba University Volleyball Club and Mapongezi Home-Grown Volleyball Club from Kenya were on Sunday awarded 2,500 USD each after emerging overall champions for female and male respectively during the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) International Tournament.
In addition to the 2,500 USD KCB Nkumba University Volleyball Club players were also awarded gold medals as well as the female overall winner’s trophy, after beating Ndejje University 3 sets straight to lift the 2019 title (Nkumba 25-18 Ndejje University).
Homegrown Volleyball Club players were as well awarded gold medals, male overall winner’s trophy and 2,500 USD. They emerged champions after defeating Gacosmos (Home-Grown 25 – 11 Gacosmos).
While speaking at the finale night, the NSSF Deputy Managing Director, Patrick Ayota promised that NSSF will continue sponsoring the tournament in the next years while narrating how proud they are to be part of this exciting competition.

One of the lucky fans, Sharon Kyatusiimire won herself a gift hamper from Uganda Lodges as part of the ultimate fan’s experience. Kyatusiimire will spend 2 nights for 2 at Simba Safari Camp in Queen Elizabeth National Park courtesy of Uganda Lodges.
The three-day tournament started on Friday and continued till Sunday where over 30 teams showed up at both the MTN Arena indoor stadium and the Hockey grounds, Lugogo for the highly competitive games. The tournament attracted Volley Ball teams from East Africa, making it the most competitive and enjoyable tournament in the region.
Being the 23rd edition, the ever-growing tournament attracted new teams from Ethiopia and Burundi, making it their maiden appearance in the NSSF KAVC tournament. Other teams that graced the tournament include; KAVC (Men) the defending of champions of last year’s NSSF KAVC tournament, Rwanda’s Gisagara, Burundi’s Amical, South Sudan’s Rainbow, Ethiopia’s Madda Walabu University among others.
